History

The Karol Piegza Small Regional Museum was established in 1995 at the Elementary School with the Polish Language of Teaching in Bukovec on the initiative of the school's head teacher Wanda Walek and teacher Irena Szymanik. The exhibition was organized in cooperation with the Beskydy Museum in Frýdek-Místek, which donated exhibits from local villages on deposit for ten years. Ethnographic artifacts were also collected among the residents of Bukovec. In 2022, the collection, along with the display cases, was handed over to the local PZKO Group in Bukovec.

Characteristics of the exhibition and collections

The display cases have been placed on the second floor of the PZKO House in Bukovec. They contain about 70 exhibits, grouped according to three major categories: folk costume, household utensils and objects, and agricultural tools. You can see clay pots, wooden molds for butter, straw products, wicker baskets, shepherd's utensils, irons, berry picking instruments, flails, pitchforks, rakes, carpentry and weaving tools. There are also highland folk costumes, memorabilia of the first Holy Communion from the early 20th century, oleo art prints with images of the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ, and several wood carvings.
