History

The Adam Sikora Regional Chamber was founded in 1997 by the local branch of the Polish Cultural and Educational Association in Jablunkov. Since then, the Chamber has organized six exhibitions accompanying the International Folklore Meetings "Highlanders´ Festival". The themes of the exhibitions were largely dictated by the exhibits acquired during the year since the previous "Highlanders´ Festival".

Characteristics of the exhibition and collections

The collection of the Adam Sikora Regional Chamber includes almost 900 items and documents, as well as more than 150 photographs. The largest part of the collection consists of items donated by Karol Lisztwan of Kamenité. A small part of the collection is formed by the remnants of the collection of the former PZKO Folklore Section. The rest of the exhibits - from utility items to cottage and agricultural tools, agricultural equipment to items of clothing - were collected among the residents of Jablunkov. The permanent exhibition "Highlanders´ Lifeˮ, scheduled to open in 2024, will present the cultural heritage of the Silesian Highlanders from the Jablunkov area. The exhibition will provide an opportunity to learn about such issues of folk culture as the shape of the village, construction, residential interiors, furniture, equipment, crafts and agricultural tools, clothing and its decorative forms, and traditional economy. The modern form of museum narration will be enriched with interactive solutions.

How to visit?

The chamber is in the process of creating a new exhibition. The collection can be seen after earlier appointment by phone or email.
