History

The exhibition was created in 2008 on the initiative of the then president of the group, Marian Waszut. It is dedicated to the memory of Władysław Niedoba, Jura from under Gróń, a Polish director, screenwriter and theater actor, author of shows on regional themes, social and cultural activist in Zaolzie. The Cieszyn Theater and the family of Władysław Niedoba participated in the creation of the exhibition, which provided memorabilia of the deceased.

 

Characteristics of the exhibition and collections

 

The exhibition arranged in the PZKO House in Návsí. It shows photos, diplomas, awards, paintings, stage costumes. Władysław Niedoba was born on March 22, 1914 in Návsí. He was a scholarship student at the Katowice Academy of Music. After the war, he gave up his career as an opera singer to work on maintaining and promoting Polish culture in Zaolzie. In 1951, he established the Polish Stage of the Cieszyn Theater in Český Těšín. He was artistic director, as well as director, writer and actor of this theater. He was a columnist for "Głos Ludu" and wrote radio plays and shows for the "Gorol" group. For 50 years he was the anchorman of the "Highlanders´ Festival" in Jablunkov. He was awarded, among other honors, the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland. He died on March 12, 1999, in Návsí.
