History

The Chamber of Traditions at the Local Group of the Polish Cultural and Educational Association was established in 1980. Stanisław Górniok was the organizational director. Preparatory work continued for four years - documents were collected and completed, chronicles of teams, clubs and the entire group were kept and supplemented.

Characteristics of the exhibition and collections

The exhibition is located on the second floor of the PZKO House in Bohumín-Skřečoň. The showcases display photographs, diplomas and memorabilia depicting the history of the activities of the "Password" choir, the "Dawn" theater group, the "Meteor" music group, the dance group and the Youth Club. Part of the exhibition is devoted to the history of cooperation between the Skřečoň group of the PZKO and Grodków in Opolskie Voivodeship. From the beginning of the group´s postwar activities, the most important issue was to preserve the memory of Poles who died in concentration camps in occupied Poland and the Third Reich, as well as in the German labor camp Polenlager No. 32 in Nový Bohumín. One of the showcases is dedicated to the memory of Poles who died in Polenlager No.32, and includes information on the history of the monument to the victims in the cemetery in Skřečoň.
